Product Overview

DIN 315 wing nuts are designed for hand tightening where quick installation, frequent adjustment or tool-free fastening is required.

With two wings extending from the internally threaded nut body, wing nuts can be tightened and loosened manually, making them suitable for furniture structures, fixtures, equipment covers, light assemblies and adjustment systems.

VALTOR supplies 304 and 316 stainless steel DIN 315 wing nuts with corrosion-resistant natural or passivated finishes. Rounded Type A and angular Type B styles are available according to customer requirements, with carbon steel and custom specifications also supported.

Wing Geometry & Tool-Free Tightening

DIN 315 wing nuts use two projecting wings for hand tightening and loosening without a wrench in frequently adjusted, removable or temporarily positioned assemblies.

Tool-Free Hand Tightening
The wings support quick installation, repeated removal, frequent adjustment and tool-free access where manual operation is appropriate.
Wing Geometry
Selection may consider thread size, overall wing width, nut height, wing height and profile, and central threaded-body geometry without assuming unverified dimensions.
DIN 315 Type A
Type A uses a more rounded or curved traditional wing form for manual gripping and general fastening applications.
DIN 315 Type B
Type B uses a more angular or rectangular wing geometry with a different hand-grip profile, selected according to equipment design, space and customer preference.
Type A vs Type B Selection
Confirm the DIN 315 type, installation space, hand access, equipment design, overall dimensions and drawing or specification. The two profiles are not assumed dimensionally identical.
Manual Tightening Limitation
Wing nuts are primarily hand-operated and are not the preferred solution for high-preload structural joints, heavy-torque applications or high-strength structural bolting.
Repeated Adjustment
Common adjustable uses include fixtures, guards, covers, positioning components and light industrial equipment.

Material, Type & Finish Options

Material, DIN 315 type, thread and finish should suit the handling frequency, environment and mating fastener.

1304 Stainless Steel — Suitable for general machinery, equipment, fixtures and fastening applications requiring good corrosion resistance.
2316 Stainless Steel — Suitable for outdoor equipment, humid environments, coastal applications and more corrosive industrial conditions.
3Carbon Steel Options — Available where cost, mechanical requirements or specified surface protection make carbon steel suitable.
4DIN 315 Type Selection — Specify Type A or Type B before ordering and keep their profiles distinct in dimensional requirements.
5Thread Options — Confirm diameter, pitch, metric specification, mating screw, bolt or stud and application. Alternative systems are not presented as DIN 315 unless they conform.
6Environment & Handling — Consider corrosion, cleanliness, handling frequency, indoor or outdoor use, appearance and mating-fastener material.

Quality Control & Dimensional Inspection

Inspection emphasizes mating-thread fit, correct Type A or Type B geometry and safe manual handling quality.

Wing Profile Inspection
Type A / Type B Verification
Dimensional Inspection
Manual Handling Quality

Thread diameter, pitch, quality and mating fit are verified. Wing checks cover shape, symmetry, formation, deformation, burrs, sharp edges and surface defects. Supplied geometry is confirmed as the required DIN 315 Type A or Type B without mixing profiles. Dimensional inspection may cover thread size, overall wing width, nut and wing height, and central body dimensions without inventing values. Finished parts are checked for cracks, poorly formed wings, contamination and defects that could interfere with hand operation. Available documentation may include a Material Certificate / MTC, raw material report, dimensional inspection report or third-party inspection support.

OEM Supply, Packaging & Ordering

OEM Wing Nut Supply

Supply may follow DIN 315 or customer-specific thread, wing geometry, dimensions, material, finish and drawings. Geometry differing from DIN 315 is identified as custom unless it actually conforms.
