Product Overview

DIN 7504 P combines a self-drilling point, tapping thread and countersunk head. The correct sequence is DRILL → THREAD → COUNTERSINK SEATING. Unlike DIN 7504 N pan-head screws, its head enters a compatible countersunk interface instead of remaining prominently above the component.

The approximately 80° countersunk geometry is selected where a smooth surface, panel clearance or low projection is required. The mating metal countersink should match the specified head; a generic 90° interface can cause edge-only contact, a proud head, localized pressure or sheet deformation.

Buyers should specify DIN 7504 P, ST diameter, total screw length, PH or PZ, 410/304/316 material, drill point, top and supporting materials, individual and total thickness, countersink geometry, quantity and drawing where required.

Countersunk Fit, Drill Point & Material Thickness Selection

Drill → Thread → Flush Seat
The point drills the stack, tapping thread forms engagement and the countersunk head enters a compatible interface for flush or near-flush seating.
80° Countersunk Fit
Applicable DIN 7504 P geometry uses approximately 80°. Matching contact supports correct seating; 90° geometry should not be substituted automatically.
Length Measurement
Countersunk screw length includes the head and is measured from the top head face to the drill-point end.
Drill Point & Stack
Point length, diameter, cutting edges and flutes must suit the upper sheet, supporting material, total thickness and hardness before major thread engagement.
PH / PZ
PH and PZ are distinct recess geometries requiring matching drivers; incorrect tooling can cause cam-out, damage and poor seating.
DIN 7504 P vs DIN 7504 N
DIN 7504 P uses a countersunk head for flush seating; DIN 7504 N uses a pan head that remains above the surface.
DIN 7504 P vs DIN 7982
DIN 7504 P has an integrated drilling point; DIN 7982 countersunk self-tapping screws use a non-drilling tapping point and may require a prepared hole.

410, 304 & 316 Stainless Steel Options

1410 Stainless Steel — Primary choice where hardening capability, drill-point cutting, thread formation and wear resistance are important.
2304 Stainless Steel — General corrosion-resistant alternative where the drill point, substrate and material stack are compatible.
3316 Stainless Steel — Increased corrosion resistance for compatible humid, coastal, outdoor and aggressive environments.
4Selection Guide — Balance drilling performance, substrate and corrosion exposure; do not assume 304/316 drill identically to hardened 410.

Size, Drive & OEM Manufacturing

Commercial Range

ST2.9–ST6.3 and approximately 9.5–50 mm standard-style lengths; important commercial sizes include ST3.5, ST4.2, ST4.8, ST5.5 and ST6.3.

Drive & Countersunk Geometry

PH or PZ cross recess with approximately 80° standard-style head. Products with different head angle, diameter or recess are described as custom, not falsely retained as DIN 7504 P.

Drill Point & OEM Input

Provide size, length, drive, material, head/countersink requirement, upper/supporting materials and thicknesses, total drilling stack, quantity and drawing/sample.

Packaging

Inner bags, boxes, export cartons, pallets, customer labels, part numbers and authorized private-label packaging.

Countersunk Fit, Drill Point & Quality Inspection

Thread Profile & Continuity
Top-to-Point Overall Length
80° Head & Countersunk Fit
PH / PZ Recess Engagement
Drill Point, Flute & Hardness

Inspection verifies thread, head diameter/height/angle/profile, recess geometry, overall length measured from top of head, drill-point diameter/length/cutting edges/flutes, material and applicable heat treatment. Representative fit and drilling tests may evaluate thread formation, flushness, countersink contact, deformation and recess condition. Documentation may include MTC, raw-material, dimensional, hardness, product and actually performed functional reports. No universal RPM, torque, drilling time or maximum thickness is claimed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DIN 7504 P?

DIN 7504 P is a widely used purchasing designation for cross-recessed countersunk-head self-drilling screws with tapping thread. ISO 15482 is the corresponding international reference.

What is the difference between DIN 7504 P and DIN 7982?

DIN 7504 P has an integrated drill point; DIN 7982 refers to countersunk self-tapping screws without the same self-drilling point.

What head angle is used for DIN 7504 P?

Applicable DIN 7504 P / ISO 15482 style products use an approximately 80° countersunk head, requiring a compatible mating countersink.

What sizes can VALTOR supply?

Common sizes range from ST2.9–ST6.3 with approximately 9.5–50 mm standard-style lengths depending on diameter.

Should I choose 410, 304 or 316 stainless steel?

410 is primary where drill-point hardness matters. 304 and 316 provide higher corrosion resistance, but drilling suitability must be confirmed for the actual substrate and thickness.
