Stainless Steel Chipboard Screws for Particleboard, MDF & Wood-Based Assemblies
Chipboard Screws are coarse-threaded fasteners designed for particleboard, MDF, softwood and suitable engineered wood. VALTOR supplies countersunk screws with PZ, PH and 6-lobe drives in full-thread and partial-thread configurations, including 304 / 316 stainless steel and carbon-steel options.
Product Overview
Particleboard is a lower-density engineered material made from compressed wood particles. Chipboard Screws use a coarse, deep thread, relatively slim core and sharp starting point to improve engagement. Particleboard, MDF, softwood, plywood and hardwood do not behave identically, so pilot-hole strategy, screw diameter, point geometry and installation conditions should match the actual board.
Full-thread screws provide engagement along most of the usable length and suit many thin-panel and hardware applications. Partial-thread screws leave a smooth or reduced-thread section beneath the head; when the threaded portion engages the base material and the upper component can move along that section, the joint may draw together. Thread length remains an important purchasing variable and does not by itself guarantee a gap-free joint.
Buyers should specify diameter, length, full or partial thread, head, drive, material, finish, board type and thickness, edge distance, pilot-hole condition, application and quantity. Drawings or samples help VALTOR verify custom thread, point, countersinking and packaging requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Chipboard Screw and a regular Wood Screw?
Chipboard Screws generally use a coarse thread, slim core and sharp point optimized for particleboard, MDF and similar materials. Traditional Wood Screws may use different shank, thread and head geometry.
Should I use Full Thread or Partial Thread Chipboard Screws?
Full thread engages along most of the length. Partial thread can help draw an upper component toward the base when its smooth section passes through the upper part and its thread engages the lower material.
What is the difference between Pozidriv and Phillips?
PZ and PH use different cross-recess geometries and require the correct matching driver. The wrong bit may reduce engagement and increase cam-out or recess damage.
What sizes can VALTOR supply?
Common diameters are approximately 3.0–6.0 mm, with selected 2.5 mm products. Commercial lengths are approximately 10–200 mm depending on diameter, thread, material and design.
Do Chipboard Screws require pilot holes?
Many applications can start directly, but pilot holes may be advisable near edges, in MDF or dense timber, with larger screws, or where splitting and alignment are concerns.
