Product Overview

Stud bolts are industrial fastening components designed for flange connections, pressure equipment and industrial piping systems. Unlike conventional bolts, stud bolts have no integral head and use threaded ends with nuts and washers to generate secure clamping force in demanding service environments.

A typical stud bolt assembly combines one double end threaded stud with two heavy hex nuts and washers. This arrangement supports controlled installation and maintenance of pipe flanges, valves, pressure vessels and process equipment.

VALTOR supplies ASTM stud bolts in alloy steel and stainless steel options, including ASTM A193 B7, A193 B8, A193 B8M and ASTM A320 L7 grades. Equivalent 304 and 316 stainless steel options can be evaluated where appropriate.

PTFE and Xylan fluoropolymer coatings are available for projects requiring improved corrosion protection, reduced installation friction and reliable assembly performance. Complete stud bolt assemblies with matching nuts, washers and inspection documentation can be supplied according to project requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are stud bolts used for?

Stud bolts are primarily used to clamp pipe flanges, valves, pressure vessels and industrial process equipment with nuts installed on both ends.

What is the difference between stud bolts and standard bolts?

A stud bolt has no integral head and is secured with nuts on both ends, while a standard bolt normally has a formed head on one end and a nut on the other.

What ASTM grades are available for stud bolts?

Common options include ASTM A193 B7, B8 and B8M, plus ASTM A320 L7 for suitable low-temperature service requirements.

Can PTFE coated stud bolts be supplied?

Yes. PTFE and Xylan fluoropolymer coating options are available for improved corrosion protection, reduced friction and installation performance.

Can VALTOR supply complete stud bolt assemblies?

Yes. Stud bolts can be supplied with matching nuts and washers as complete assemblies according to the required grade, size, coating and documentation.
